Aumenta as temperaturas do forno, reduz o consumo de combust\u00edvel e desempenha um papel fundamental na refina\u00e7\u00e3o para aumentar a pureza do metal. Utilizando a fundi\u00e7\u00e3o de cobre como exemplo, o oxig\u00e9nio \u00e9 particularmente cr\u00edtico nas duas fases seguintes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fase de fundi\u00e7\u00e3o: Reduzir o consumo de energia atrav\u00e9s do enriquecimento de oxig\u00e9nio<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante o processo inicial de fundi\u00e7\u00e3o - normalmente efectuado em fornos de alta temperatura, como os fornos de fundi\u00e7\u00e3o instant\u00e2nea ou de banho - o concentrado de cobre \u00e9 aquecido a mais de 1.200\u00b0C. Isto decomp\u00f5e os min\u00e9rios de sulfureto e produz um produto semi-refinado conhecido como mate, que cont\u00e9m cerca de 40%-70 % de cobre. Ao enriquecer o ar de combust\u00e3o com oxig\u00e9nio, o processo gera calor interno suficiente, o que reduz significativamente a necessidade de combust\u00edvel suplementar e melhora a efici\u00eancia energ\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fase de convers\u00e3o: O oxig\u00e9nio como chave para a remo\u00e7\u00e3o de impurezas<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Ap\u00f3s a fase de fundi\u00e7\u00e3o, o mate \u00e9 submetido a um processamento adicional em conversores, onde \u00e9 injetado ar enriquecido com oxig\u00e9nio para oxidar e remover o sulfureto de ferro (FeS) e o enxofre remanescentes. Esta etapa aumenta a pureza do cobre para 97% ou superior. Nesta fase, o oxig\u00e9nio n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas um agente reativo, mas tamb\u00e9m aumenta a efici\u00eancia da rea\u00e7\u00e3o global, conduzindo a melhores taxas de recupera\u00e7\u00e3o.
